Development Report 28

Hello Fommunity,

It's been a while since our last development report, but we were not on vacation, even though we could use one.

This week's update will rather be made of announcements than development news. CB3 has been wrapped and we are now doing internal work to prepare for our last phase of closed beta, CB4.

CB4 will be launched on 25th of October. Everyone who has registered a portal account until today and applied for closed beta will be eligible for this last CB phase. We want to do this to allow for a first stress test before open beta. It will be a stress test because we are going to find out how many simultaneous players the new FoM architecture can host on a single machine.

In addition to technical tests, we will of course use this final phase to make sense of a few game features. Especially combat is a topic that's often discussed. We will introduce a few changes that were suggested by CB testers during the last weeks and we will make sure that everything fits together, find a compromise that the majority of players can live with.

Some of you might wonder why we didn't do any sort of marketing yet.
There is a good reason for it, which I'm sure you will understand. Face of Mankind has a few weak points and marketing FoM too early would rather have a negative effect. There is still a lot of time for this and we don't want to rush into Open Beta. It's also a simple question of manpower. If we do marketing, we can't focus as much on development as before. At this stage, development and game improvement is of highest priority.

There will be no more development updates until CB4.
