Closed Beta Report
Part 12
For closed Beta we have a TODO list of features that we still want to finish before Face of Mankind will go into Open Beta. While I can not reveal you exactly what's on this list, I can give you details about those features that we can now scratch from this list.
One of these features was a system for more player freedom in groups. It is called "Objective Preselection".
It is an internally complicated, but simple looking feature to define rather specifically what objectives you would like to be generated for your group. You can select or deselect objective categories such as combat, healing, reconnaissance, mining and so on (see screenshots for more). You can also choose where you want to do your objectives, so you can stay on one world together with your friends and don't have to jump back and forth between worlds.

The choices you are presented with are defined by the current goals of your faction, which means that depending on the amount and type of your faction goals you can select more or less objective categories and/or locations.
The objective generator still needs at least 5 different objectives available to be able to generate an objective set. This could mean that you have to choose a combination of categories in order to get what you want. Most of the times it won't be enough to select just one objective category (i.e. combat), you'd have to combine it with reconnaissance or sabotage. So you have the freedom of choice, but there's still a certain randomness to it.
But don't worry, you only have to complete 3 of the 5 objectives to complete the set and start a new one. It's all just a matter of finding the right combination for you.

The feature was well received by the players, because FoM was and still is focused a lot on player freedom.
One less feature on our road to Open Beta. Now let's move on.
