As introduced shortly on our TODO list, we are now happy to announce the start of the
PLAYER ADVERTISEMENT INITIATIVE
on January 3, 2010.
You all know the many advertisement platforms floating at distinct places in the Face of Mankind worlds.

Each platform has 3 panels that show the same advertisement, which is switched to a new ad at random times. Premium Accounts can now put up their own advertisements onto these platforms, visible for everyone passing them. :shocked:
The platforms also play audio ads at random times. Premium Accounts may even submit their own audio ads, which will then be played along the existing ones or replace them even.
What may I advertise?
You can advertise everything that is related to the game, its factions or players. You may not advertise anything not directly related to Face of Mankind. Furthermore, we keep the right to deny every submission we do not find suitable for the game or the balance of it.
Advertise a service or product that exists within the game or may exist in the future (new departments, ideas etc.)!
Do not announce simple facts like "XYZ is the best". ;)
As long as it includes some sort of service or advertising a group of players, you may include propaganda.
Including internet links is allowed under the following restrictions. The website must be a FoM-only site, dedicated to the community of the game. We decided to allow this to give incentives for fan pages to grow. Internet links may only be added on visual ads.
How do I create my advertisement panel?
All you have to do is edit a texture template, which looks like this:

Your advertisement can fill the entire blue area.
Once you're done, save the file as 32 bit TGA.
There are a few rules you must follow when creating your artwork.
Be creative! Text only ads will not be accepted.
Respect copyrights! All your work must be created by yourself through legal means.
You can only submit one advertisement panel per Premium Account.
How do I create my voice ad?
All you have to do is create an audio file with a maximum length of 15 seconds.
Once you're done, save the file in WAV format, 22,050 kHz, 16 Bit, Mono.
There are a few rules you must follow when creating your audio.
Respect copyrights! All your work must be created by yourself through legal means. If you use voice, the voice must be your own.
Try to improve your audio by using effects that give the impression of an announcement through loudspeakers.
You can only submit one voice ad per Premium Account.
How do I submit my files?
Once your artwork or audio is finished and polished to the best of your abilities, you can submit it to us by opening a support ticket at http://support.fomportal.com and select the category "Player Advertisement Submission".
Please include your game character name, attach your content and tell use for how long you want the ad stay (2 weeks or 4 weeks) and in which worlds. Ads can either go to single worlds or generally everywhere (see fees below).
We will check your submission and reply to you within 5 days to tell you whether your submission is accepted or denied. We keep the right to deny all submissions that we don't find suitable. We may also deny your submission if we think it may hurt the balance of the game.
When will my ad go live?
Once we have checked your submission and gave you a positive reply, your content can be integrated into the content update pipeline and be updated with the next client patch. We may combine advertisement updates so we don't have to patch too often. We will not do such patches in intervals shorter than 2 weeks.
You will be informed through ingame mail once your ads are active. This will also be the time, when the fees are deducted from your account.
What does it cost me and how will my ad stay?
This service is only available for Premium Accounts. It does not cost real money, but only game money.
Both advertisement panels and voice ads will stay for 2 weeks or 1 month, depending on how much UC you want to pay. All times are real time.
General (will show randomly on all worlds):
Advertisement Panel: 100,000 UC per 2 weeks
Voice Ads: 200,000 UC per 2 weeks
Single (per single world):
Advertisement Panel: 30,000 UC per 2 weeks
Voice Ads: 60,000 UC per 2 weeks
Prices may change.
The money will go to a pool that will be used for events and future features.
